Most travel websites and blogs describe Mongolia from a hotel room in Ulaanbaatar or a week-long tour. Mongolia Road Trip Guides (MRTG) is different. I’m an American journalist and tour operator who has lived full-time in Mongolia for more than eight years, driving its roads in every season, across every region, in conditions that would make most guidebooks blush. MRTG exists because the information travelers actually need, like which regions are known to flood in June, where to find fuel between Mandalgovi and Dalanzadgad, or what to do when your tire blows 80 kilometers from nowhere just doesn’t exist anywhere else in English.
